John East retired from Actel Corporation in November 2010 in conjunction with the transaction in which Actel was purchased by Microsemi Corporation. He had served as the CEO of Actel for 22 years at the time of his retirement. Previously, he was a senior vice president of AMD, where he was responsible for the Logic Products Group. Prior to that, Mr. East held various engineering, marketing, and management positions at Raytheon Semiconductor and Fairchild Semiconductor. In the past he has served on the boards of directors of Adaptec and Zehntel (both public companies), and MCC and Single Chip Systems (both private companies. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Alacritech - A private company involved in the data storage market, Atrenta – a supplier of design tools to the IC designer community, and Pericom – a supplier of serial connectivity enabling integrated circuits. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Carl Burrow has over 20 years of Executive-level, running Sales and Marketing organizations for hardware and software technology companies ranging from start-up to over $200M in revenue. Carl currently serves as SVP Sales for CalAmp and has held previous roles as follows: VP Sales and Marketing at Medium One, VP Sales and Marketing at Peregrine Semiconductor (Acquired by Murata), Corporate Vice President-Field Operations for Magma Design Automation (Acquired by Synopsys), VP Sales at Aplus Design Technology (Acquired by Magma Design Automation) and VP Marketing at Actel Corporation (Acquired by Microsemi). He received a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla and an M.B.A. from Amberton University.
Justin Butler is a partner at Eclipse Ventures, and serves on the Board of Directors at Tortuga Logic. Prior to joining the investment team at Eclipse, Justin built and led the commercial operations at Misfit, a digital health company acquired by the Fossil Group for more than $250M. Before Misfit, Justin managed the commercialization efforts in the foods, fuels, and chemicals spaces at Synthetic Genomics (SGI), a leading synthetic biology company. At SGI, Justin’s efforts led to first-in-class technology development, licensing, and commercialization deals with ADM and other Fortune 100 food and chemicals companies. Justin received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and his MBA from MIT Sloan. Justin is an avid cyclist and triathlete and serves on the advisory board of CycleKids, a nonprofit focused on strengthening the physical and emotional health of children.
Dr. Oberg is one of the co-founders and Chief Executive Officer of Tortuga Logic. He oversees technology and strategic positioning of the company. He is the founding technologist and has brought years of intellectual property into the company. His work has been cited over 700 times and he holds 6 issued and pending patents. Dr. Oberg is leading Tortuga Logic to meet all milestones including raising capital, putting together strategic partnerships, and generating revenue on all products and services. Dr. Oberg has a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego.
